How can we help?

Step-by-step guidance on using Iraqi Biradari — for individuals, organisations, and matrimonial services. Includes how to build your profile on Apnon Ki Talash.

Getting Started

General

Iraqi Biradari is the online heritage and community platform for the Iraqi Biradari community — a distinct Muslim community with roots in Iraq who have settled primarily across North India.

The platform brings together community events, organisations, heritage documents, culture stories, achievers, and a private matrimonial service — all in one place at iraqibiradari.com.

The website is open to everyone, but is primarily intended for:

  • Members of the Iraqi Biradari community — individuals and families.
  • Community organisations that serve Iraqi Biradari members.
  • Families using the matrimonial service (restricted to verified community members).
  • Researchers, historians, and those interested in the community's heritage.

Most of the website — events, organisations, culture stories, documents, videos — is freely accessible without any account.

A Google account sign-in is required only for the Matrimonial Service, where you will also need to complete a one-time membership verification step.

There is no standalone mobile app at present. The website is fully responsive and works well on all smartphones and tablets through your mobile browser.

On most phones you can add it to your home screen: tap the Share button in your browser and select "Add to Home Screen" for a shortcut that feels like an app.

You can reach the webmaster through the following:

Please include a brief description of the issue and, if possible, a screenshot.

Individuals

For Individuals

As an individual, you can:

  • Browse community events, organisations, and announcements.
  • Read heritage documents and watch archived videos.
  • Submit your own story or achievement to the Our Culture section.
  • Use the private matrimonial service (requires Google sign-in and membership verification).
  • Find your family lineage on Apnon Ki Talash — the dedicated Shajra platform.
  • Volunteer to help run sections of the platform.

Go to Our Culture — Submit Your Story and fill in the form. You can write about an individual achievement, a community tradition, an ancestral place, or an elder's life story.

The form has a rich text editor where you can add text, images, and video embeds. Your submission will be reviewed before being published.

The family tree (Shajra) is maintained on a separate dedicated platform called Apnon Ki Talash. Visit apnonkitalash.com and search for your family name.

If your family is not listed yet or you need to update existing information, contact the webmaster through WhatsApp at Iraqi Biradari Community.

Use the link on the Support Us page, or message directly on WhatsApp: Iraqi Biradari Community.

Yes. The website works from anywhere in the world. The matrimonial service also supports international phone numbers — you can select your country code when registering as a member.

Organisations

For Organisations

Fill in the Organisation Registration Form. Once reviewed, your organisation will be published in the Organisations section.

What to prepare Organisation name · Type (Welfare / Cultural / Educational / Religious / Other) · Founding year · City · Contact number and email · A brief description · Logo image link (optional, use Google Drive or similar) · Social media links (optional)

Any organisation that serves the Iraqi Biradari community can apply for listing. This includes:

  • Welfare and charitable trusts
  • Cultural and heritage bodies
  • Educational institutions
  • Mosques and religious institutions
  • Youth and women's groups
  • Business associations

There is no fixed turnaround. The platform is managed by volunteers, so review times may vary. If you have not heard back within a week, you are welcome to follow up on WhatsApp at Iraqi Biradari Community.

Currently, updates and event additions are handled by the admin team. Send your event details or update requests to the webmaster via WhatsApp and they will be processed.

A self-service portal for organisations is planned for a future release.

Matrimonial Services

Using the Matrimonial Service

The matrimonial service is a private, moderated platform for verified members of the Iraqi Biradari community only. Read the full Service Policy →

  1. Go to iraqibiradari.com/matrimony/.
  2. Click the "Sign in with Google" button.
  3. Choose your Google account from the pop-up.
  4. You will be returned to the matrimony page — signed in.

The service uses Google OAuth for secure sign-in. No separate password is needed.

First-time users must complete a one-time membership verification form before accessing the service. This confirms your identity and community affiliation.

Information required Full name · Mobile number (with country code) · Native location (ancestral village / city) · Current location · Apnon Ki Talash (AKT) profile link (optional but recommended)

You also confirm that all information is true and that you belong to the Iraqi Biradari community. This record is kept privately by the platform administrators.

  1. Sign in and complete membership verification.
  2. From your dashboard, click "Add a Candidate Profile".
  3. Fill in the candidate's details: name, gender, age, marital status, education, profession, city, country, and family background.
  4. Optionally add a private photograph link (Google Drive view-only link recommended).
  5. Optionally add your AKT profile link for identity verification.
  6. Confirm consent that you have the candidate's and family's permission to submit.
  7. Submit — your profile goes into the admin review queue.

Once approved by the admin team, your profile will appear in the Browse section for other verified members.

  1. Sign in and complete membership verification (first time only).
  2. From your dashboard, click "Browse Profiles".
  3. Approved candidate profiles are shown as cards with name initials, age, city, education, and profession.
  4. Click any card to view the full profile details.

Contact details are not shown publicly in browse. To initiate contact, use the coordination team via WhatsApp.

On any profile card in the Browse section, tap or click the heart (♥) icon in the corner. The card will show a filled heart to confirm it is shortlisted.

Tap again to remove from your shortlist. Your shortlist is private and only visible to you.

To view all your shortlisted profiles, click your name chip in the top-right and select "My Submissions".

Profiles with an "AKT Verified ✓" green badge have had their Apnon Ki Talash (AKT) genealogy profile link reviewed and confirmed by the admin team. This provides an extra layer of identity and community-lineage verification.

A profile showing "⏳ AKT Pending" means an AKT link was provided but has not yet been reviewed by the admin.

Profiles with no AKT badge have not provided an AKT link. This is optional and does not affect the validity of the profile, but verified profiles give families additional confidence.

The matrimonial service is not a public directory. Profiles are only visible to signed-in, verified members. Contact details are not exposed in the browse view. The platform does not share your information with any third party.

For the full policy on accuracy, privacy, limitation of liability, and community welfare, read the Matrimony Service Policy.

Contact the coordination team via WhatsApp at Iraqi Biradari Community mentioning you found a profile of interest through the matrimony service. The coordinator will facilitate an introduction between the two families.

The platform acts only as a facilitator. All further discussions, meetings, and decisions are between the families involved.

Apnon Ki Talash

Building Your AKT Profile

Apnon Ki Talash is a separate platform at apnonkitalash.com that maintains the Iraqi Biradari family tree (Shajra). Linking your AKT profile to your matrimony submission helps the admin team verify your community lineage.

Apnon Ki Talash (meaning "Search for Your Own") is the dedicated genealogy and family tree platform for the Iraqi Biradari community. It hosts the Shajra — a detailed record of lineages, family branches, and ancestral connections.

It is available at apnonkitalash.com and is maintained separately from this website.

Providing your AKT profile link does two things:

  • Lineage verification — it allows the admin team to confirm you are listed in the community Shajra, adding a layer of authenticity to your profile.
  • AKT Verified badge — once reviewed, your matrimony profile receives a green "AKT Verified ✓" badge visible to other browsing members, increasing trust and interest in your profile.

Linking an AKT profile is optional, but strongly recommended. It also helps families who are browsing to do their own background research.

  1. Go to apnonkitalash.com.
  2. Use the search bar to search for your name or your father's/grandfather's name.
  3. Browse the results to find the correct person.
  4. Click on your name to open your individual profile page.

If you cannot find yourself, your family may not yet be added to the Shajra. Contact the webmaster at Iraqi Biradari Community to request an addition.

  1. Open apnonkitalash.com and find your individual profile page.
  2. Look at the address bar in your browser — it should show a URL that looks like:
    https://apnonkitalash.com/person/12345 or similar.
  3. Tap or click the address bar to select the full URL.
  4. Copy it (long-press → Copy on mobile; Ctrl+C / Cmd+C on desktop).
  5. Paste this URL into the "AKT Profile Link" field on the matrimony membership form or candidate profile form.
Important Make sure the name on your AKT profile matches the candidate name you enter on the matrimony form. The admin team uses this to cross-check identity. If your name is recorded differently on AKT (e.g. a different spelling or nickname), mention this in the family background notes.

This is common — many names have multiple transliteration spellings (e.g. "Hussain / Husain / Hussayn"). If your matrimony candidate name differs from the AKT entry:

  • Still provide the AKT link — the admin team will manually cross-check.
  • In the Family Background field, add a note such as: "AKT profile listed under 'Mohammad Hussain', same person."

Alternatively, you can request the AKT webmaster to update the spelling on your profile before submitting the matrimony form.

Yes. The AKT profile link is optional. You can complete the matrimony membership verification and submit a candidate profile without it.

However, your profile will not carry the "AKT Verified" badge and may receive less attention from families that prioritise lineage verification. We recommend getting your family added to AKT first, which typically takes just a message to the webmaster.
